175th Anniversary Weekend at St. John’s, Keokuk
We will be celebrating the 175th anniversary of St. John’s, Keokuk during the first weekend of November and we would like to invite all in the diocese to join us! Our celebration will kick off on Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 pm with a Celebration Eucharist for All Saints Day where Bishop Betsey Monnot will preside. This festival Eucharist will include special music, a special preacher and folks from all over our region and the diocese. During the service Bishop Monnot will rededicate the Conversion of St. Constantine window and we will recognize a group of 5 churches who are all part of the first five churches in Iowa. After the service on Saturday, we will host a reception for all our friends in St. Andrew’s hall.
On Sunday, November 2, we will meet together for our regular morning service at 9:00 am, in which The Rev. Gayle Pope and The Rev Jay Elmquist will preside and preach. We will also honor those whom we have lost, as we observe All Soul’s Day. We are also planning to celebrate our history together by talking about the churches and missions planted by St. John’s, as well as looking toward the future and what God might have for us. There may even be a pilgrimage to the sites of those places in Keokuk, if the weather permits.
We hope you’ll plan to be with us as we are hoping to be joined by churches from around the region to celebrate this milestone in our diocese. Please talk to your friends, and friends of St. John’s and invite them to come. An RSVP will be available soon!
