Summer Ministry School and Retreat - June 27-29, 2008. Spend a weekend on the Grinnell college campus learning and hanging out with old and new friends. National Happening Leadership Conference – June 29-July 2, 2008 at Kanuga, North Carolina. Youth who attend this conference should have attended at least 1 Happening event and will be expected to play a leadership role in the planning of future Iowa Happenings. Pine Ridge Mission Trip – July 18-26, 2008 to Batesland, South Dakota. Youth in 9th grade and above are invited to participate in this annual mission opportunity at Pine Ridge Reservation. The team will work together with The Rev. Cordelia Red Owl and the congregations of St. Andrew’s in WakpamniLake and St. Michael’s in Batesland to put on a VacationBibleSchool filled with fun, food, and fellowship. The purpose of the trip is to learn and grow in God's love as we experience the cultural values, friendship and traditions of the people who live on a reservation as we work together in faith and partnership. The team will be staying at a host church in Gordon, Nebraska. Adults will be needed to help plan, organize and budget food and supplies for the trip. 2008 Episcopal Youth Event (E.Y.E.) E.Y.E. will be held July 8-13, 2008 at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas for young people who have just finished 9-12 grade that year. It serves as a celebration to inspire a deeper faith in Jesus Christ, and a renewed commitment to mission and ministry. Youth and adult sponsors must have submitted an application to the Youth Office at the Diocese of Iowa by February 29 in order to be considered to attend. Fall Youth Conference – November 7-8, 2008  This event for youth in 6-12 grades takes place in conjunction with convention and provides a chance to explore the theme of convention while having fun and participating in worship with others from around the diocese (registration will be available in the fall).
