22nd Annual Summer Ministry School & Retreat

June 22-24, 2012

Grinnell College

We invite you to join Episcopalians from all of Iowa to learn, grow, enjoy, build relationships, and praise God together.

A montage from the 2011 Summer Ministry School and Retreat.

WORSHIP TOGETHER

Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline
We gather to worship and rest in God. Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and Compline services from the Book of Common Prayer. Music is led by Andrew Hicks.

Eucharist is celebrated Sunday before lunch at the end of the retreat. Bishop Alan Scarfe will preside, and the Diocese of Iowa Youth Choir Camp and Ministry to the Deaf tracks will participate.

STUDY TOGETHER

Learning Tracks
During 8 hours of “track” time over the course of the weekend, track leaders lead your group in a relaxed, informal and often hands-on learning time on the topic you’ve chosen.

FREE TIME & REJUVENATION

Evening Social Time
Bring a snack to share and hang out with other retreat participants each evening where lively conversation over a soft drink or a nice glass of wine may be had!

Free Time on Saturday (1-4:30p.m.) is for you to relax and take time to find center. The following optional opportunities are available:

  • Swimming Grinnell's public pool is only 9 blocks from campus.
  • Social handcrafting Join other 'crafty" folk as you indulge a hobby such as knitting, or embroidery.
  • Bike Ride Bring your bike and safety equipment.
  • Shopping The lobby of the Joe Rosenfield building will have Cokesbury Books, and other exhibits/vendors on hand.
  • Converse, Read, Journal, or Nap The Grinnell College Campus and dorms offer many nooks and lobbies both indoors and outdoors that you can use to create a sacred space for your own renewal.
